The Field: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe
This book by Lynne McTaggart changed the way I see the world. It is written especially for those who believe in science, the scientific process, and research and enjoy reading about them. From physics through anatomy and the scientific research on perception and the mind, McTaggart leads the reader of The Field down a logical path to confront the mystery of paranormal abilities and human beings’ power to affect random systems. That may seem like a stretch, until you realize that our brain produces a three-dimensional view of energy that we call the world and the universe using essentially the same process that an MRI machine does to produce an image of our internal organs! We are energy and, because our emotions are a form of energy that resonates not only in our bodies but in the world, we have the ability to change what has not yet been manifested and observed–our future.
Our future reality is also a random system, full of many potential futures, until directed by consciousness. The fact that subatomic particles are potentials and not particles until they are observed means that free will, our free will, is deeply embedded into the structure of the universe. I have only to reflect on the stark contrast between my first life and my second to find evidence of how that fact has played out in my life. Have you read The Secret or Wayne Dyer’s The Power of Intention? The Field reports on the research that supports the theses made in books like these. Our thoughts have the power to change our life and the world. So it should not be a surprise that this becomes the subject of McTaggart’s next book, The Intention Experiment, and my next book review. Stay tuned!
